Re: Storing medals

If you've got a Michael's Craft store by you they have some nice display cases.

Yes they do, but you have to catch them when they are trying to get rid of the current supply or you pay too much (at least with the one in my home town). I've found that Hobby Lobby has the best selection (sometimes) and always has the best prices. Anything from 4"x4" to 1.5'x2' which is what I'm setting up my main display in. Plus they have all sorts of fabrics in colors that are different than the standard red or black - like the "wave green" I found that is very close to the parade uniform color.

Just my humble opinion, of course.

Taken a while to put together via Ebay. Guess I should cross over the Atlantic and go to the source one of these days.

Re: Moving Some Stuff, Took a Family Portrait

Since you are moving things, just take one wall for your sets and hang them because you are right, they do look good together.

Re: How to display Soviet awards

There is the Bulgarian "For People's Freedom 1941-1944" badge missing which was primarily a partisan award unlike the Order "People's Freedom 1941-1944" which ended up being awarded to nearly everyone and anyone. There is also the Bulgarian medal "For Participation in the anti-fascist struggle". If I had a camera I'd take a picture of some of my framed awards.... I just framed the last Tsar's autograph with a "table medal" with his image on it over the weekend. I have a golden frame about 24"X18" with a blood red crushed velvet background with holes for screwbacks 9X6 which currently has 21 Red Stars 13 OPW and then a selection of soviet badges on the wall which looks very nice.... Hopefully one day it'll all be red stars! I also got a frame 48"X36" to display my Bulgarian orders and medals but it's not going to do it. Not even if I only do one of each variation. I am currently working on framing a Hasan Badge and Document and I am thinking of including within the frame a Halhingol Badge and a Winter War "For Combat Merit" medal... Maybe I'll just keep the Hasan Badge and Doc on it's own though the jury is out!

Re: How to display Soviet awards

I have the most respectable Bulgarian Partisan Star for peoples freedom 1923-1944, those been given only to persons who actually were involved in struggle against capitalism and fascism.
