Re: Red Star.
Cheers guys,
It's my first one of this variation and i never realised just how flared the edges are on this type. In sunlight the enamel tips glow, these pictures really don't do it justice. Research will hopefully follow soon but I appear to have spent more money on football tickets than i intended this month so it may have to wait a little while! Tom |

Re: Red Star.
It is surprising just how much variation there can be in the design and production of many awards. This can lead to even an experienced collector to get a little spooked about authenticity when they come across a variation unlike anything they are accustomed to. The angles, dimensions and colours of the Red Star can vary greatly - but are never anything but outstandingly beautiful.

Hi!
I'm thinking in buy an Order of Red Star, a guy offers me a type2, 3 variant 4, (157k). How much you think is the price for this order? and it's late 1942 or 1943? considering the low number, we could say that it's rare? Thanks! regards I only have this photo, for me looks ok, right? |

Re: help buying a red star please
It doesn't look bad, but given the value of such a piece, the least the seller could do is send decent photos of both sides of the order. I would say the piece is scarce, not rare. It's a mid-1943 award. Without seeing the obverse I can't tell you what a realistic asking price would be.

Re: help buying a red star please
From what little can be seen in your photograph it certainly looks authentic, however better pictures are needed to be more certain. I would agree with Auke, scarce, but not rare. Value can not be determined based on the scant evidence you have presented, for example, how is the condition of the enamel on the obverse, is it original, has it been replaced, are there scratches, chips, is the screw plate original or a replacement, and other condition related issues. Please keep us posted. . .

Re: help buying a red star please
Hi Auke and Bill, thanks for your help, I attached a photo of the front, enamels are in good condition and not looks repaired. My question about value was an aprox price for a standard condition star of this type and variant, but I understand that condition change the price in a big range.
I haven't more pictures, so surely we'll be not 100x100 sure, but a 85% is ok if the value of the order is good, sorry for can't give you better info and photos, and thanks for your help. :thumbsup |
