Clint Eastwood's Hat

Finishing tonite on e with $400 opener. I love the hollywood interpretation of Soviet uniforms before they became widely available as post breakup surplus. This cap, with the thick, muscular piping, was supposedly Eastwood's cap (Named!) in the Movie Firefox.
Definitely not a "Teller" crown. Doesn't really have the swoop of the "German" crown. Funnel crown?
Not even air force. pshaw!

I didn't ask for additional photos

Buying this would fall into the category of "you paid WHAT for that?!"
Only 5 hours left and no bidders

It looks awful. How hard could it have been to take a glance at the newspaper photos from the military parades in Moscow? They were even in any finnish 1960/70's schoolbook!

Keep in mind it's Hollywood we're talking about. They aren't really known for their accurate perception and depiction of reality.

Hat

I have the movie and have seen it often...I actually rate the uniforms in the movie fairly good considering the film was made in 1984. Also, Eastwood wore a KGB uniform in the movie, not the ugly piece offered on e-stand, and his uniform looked ok to me. My only problem was the amount of Hero medals hanging on the tunics. Even the KGB Colonel had 2 I believe. After his poor performance in protecting the Migs, I doubt that he would have retained them...:chuckle

Although made in the 60's, I was impressed with some of the uniforms in Dr. Zhivago. The collar on Alex Guiness's M43 looked like it was designed by Karl Lagerfeld but I thought Tom Courtney's Chekist Komdiv was pretty good.

Apparently no takers last time and now with opening bid $200 and $300 buy it now. They admit it was supposed to be Eastwoods but then it ended up a customs official
Which of course makes it bizarre looking and completely wrong.
Ah, Hollywood!
