Medal "For The Liberation Of Warsaw".

No, not from Poland but soviet documents with polish stamps. Probably from the Polish in the Red Army. How common is it to find these? Are there any other nation-stamps, like cezh, hungarian, bulgarian... Are there some in the collections of the forum members?

I've got several soviet documents with Polish stamps for campaign medals dated '46 through '49. I haven't seen any other countries' however.

Kim,

I've got Berlin, Warsaw, and Victory over Germany stamped by the 1st Polish Division and two Polish medals all awarded to the same Soviet guy if my memory serves me correct (my stuff is sitting in a box at my friend's house). From what I remember, there were the 1st and 2nd Polish Infantry Divisions subordinate to Soviet armies/fronts?. I'd have to check, but due to their campaign history I don't think they would have been eligible for other Soviet campaign medals besides the two we have, i.e. Koenigsberg, Vienna, etc.

Interesting Estate found medal, which brings questions

I found this item in an Estate sale of a US veteran. This has been with the family since the war...

This brings to me several questions:

1. When was this medal created and issue started?
2. Were there any Soviet units co-assigned where American troops were, which would have been awarded this medal?

I find it interesting that this medal was important enough to keep it in this manner for a lifetime.

Regardless, it is a great find for 9 dollars. I would like to find a ribbon and suspension for it.

Do you know anything about the veteran? Name, unit, etc? Other awards? Any other clues at the sale? That would seem the best start.

I know nothing of the family. It was bought on consignment and no information would be released...

June 9, '45 for the first part, I don't know when they started being issued.
