Short description of personal combat feat or service

As a military aviation commander he has promoted a high political-morale environment since August 1941 and successful mission accomplishment among the unit’s personnel. During this period the regiment shot down 46 enemy planes and completed five aerial ramming attacks. In occasionally difficult working conditions he has proven himself a steadfast, industrious, and rationally motivated individual, correctly orienting himself to the situation at hand and making proper decisions. During the Patriotic War he has served from regimental commissar to the division’s deputy commander for political units, proving himself a bold, willful, and polished political commander. During the division’s penetration of the Leningrad blockade, Comrade Pastushkov was the division’s deputy commander for political units and he conducted massive efforts in accomplishing the unit’s combat missions; during the mentioned operation the pilots conducted 241 combat sorties of 173 flight hours, 52 minutes. During this period the division’s pilots destroyed 8 tanks, 172 vehicles loaded with personnel and equipment, 3 locomotives, 45 train cars with 38 train cars damaged. They suppressed the fire of 57 artillery batteries, 25 air defense batteries, and air defense command and control sites. They killed as many as 1200 enemy soldiers and officers and the assault aviation pilots shot down two enemy ME-109 aircraft. All the above actions were supported by proper decisions. He conducts decisive measures for ensuring iron discipline and military order, conducting educational work with high demands of his subordinates. He is capably organized and performs party-political work, educating the unit’s personnel with bravery, valor, heroism, military mastery, and unlimited dedication to the Motherland, as well as burning hatred for the enemy.
For displayed courage, steadfastness, initiative, and effort in the accomplishment of combat missions, he is being recommended for the Order of the Red Banner.
