"Dmitry Medvedev signed Executive Order On Awarding the 2012 Russian Federation National Award named after the Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov.

The 2012 National Award named after Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov in in the field of armaments and military equipment has been awarded to:

– a group of experts for the establishment of a new class of materials to defend new generations of equipment from attack by modern and future ammunition, which contributes to a significant strengthening of Russia’s defence capability;

– a group of experts for the creation of an autonomous deep-sea submersible Consul as part of project 16811, which strengthens the national security of the Russian Federation.

The 2012 National Award named after Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov in literature and the arts has been awarded to Yury Vinogradov for a five-volume collection of plays that reveal the enormous scope of national heroism during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 and the bravery and courage of the defenders of the Fatherland.

The title of Laureate of the Russian Federation National Award named after Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov is presented on the eve of Victory Day.

"State Prize "Marshal of the Soviet Union GK Zhukov" for excellence in the field of military science.

The State Prize named after GK Zhukov was established on April 19, 1995 by the Federal Law "On Commemoration of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941 - 1945." (Act of 19.05.1995 № 80-FZ).

Presidential decree № 1499 of October 28, 1996 for the Ministry of Defence established an interdepartmental commission for the award. It is composed of prominent military leaders and scientists representing the main sections of military science, the developers and the organizers of military equipment production, the leaders of veterans' organizations, reputable writers and artists. The Commission is headed by First Deputy Defence Minister - Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Army General Yury Baluyevsky. It was first awarded in 1997, approximately 5 awards are made yearly.

It is awarded for outstanding achievements in the field of military science and the creation of military equipment, as well as for the best works of art and literature devoted to the Great Patriotic War.

It's a circular golden medal bearing the bust of Marshal Zhukov surrounded by a laurel wreath mounted on a small rectangular mount covered by a tricolour ribbon in horizontal white, red and blue. "
