I'll be the first to acknowledge that there many variations and personal preferences expressed as "non-regulation" uniforms. While the brick red backgrounds to the collar tabs and sleeve spools looks like it matches the nkvd hat band, I've never seen them like that on a parade uniform. Has anyone seen other than blue?

Yes...

There was a discussion taking place in the past on www.russiamilitaria.ru concerning this - and if I recall correctly it had to do with the changing around of branches inside the Interior Ministry in the late 40s and early 50s.

That particular forum is seems to be down at the moment however...

I believe the mundir in question was of an earlier type.

Vadim is the guy most likely to have comprehensive information Stateside...

Blue collar, single breasted: NKGB-MGB (state security).

I have see another like this with justice branch insignia. I didn't known, may be MGB but not in the 43' system. :confused:
It's more a question for Vadim...
