I can't say which is my favorite

A marvelous collection. Let me know if I can come over some time and help you dust them.

Revolution-era uniforms and flags are so splendids and unusuals. The komroty jacket seems made for the next star trek generation!
Wonderful!

The infantry set (#6) is, of course, to a Komvzvoda (platoon commander) Sorry for the stupid error.

All of the uniforms from post 13 onwards were mine and they were the "last and best" from my collection (JMeff's avatar is also formerly mine as well - and a BEAUT!!!!!!!!!!) These were some incredibly fine uniforms that are 100% righteous.

The thing I loved about RCW uniforms is that there was NO regulation for the longest time - even after the regulations started coming out in 1919. The RCW took place in so many ways in so many places over such a huge expanse that articles of clothing were used as they were found, often completely countering the regulations of the time.

Of course, there are "experts" (both Russian and American) who will claim that because something doesn't exactly fall into the 1919 regulations that it's not 100% right. Those are the same people who ignore the photographic evidence (of which I am also trying to sell from my collection....) of multitudes of regulation errors and discrepancies through the first decade of the Soviet state. I would say that for every "regulation" uniform example I probably find two or three that DON'T follow regulation!

Wouldn't it be nice if we were all perfect???

Thanks, Dave. Knowing provenance always helps and makes it easier to ignore the yapping dogs who dismiss anything that isn't identical either to the regulations or the "known good" non-regulation examples (which happen, oif course, to reside in THEIR collections). I never wanted to see collecting as a competitive sport, but . . . .

Thanks, Dave

I think I have more than one item from your collection in my closet now. Thanks for letting go and giving the rest of us a chance to enjoy these.

I have a flag that is one of the best White flags in private collectors hands. It came direct from a noted museum via the collection of the "biggest" RCW collector in Moscow (if not in Russia).

So I post this flag up and an American "expert" in flags (note, not Russian flags, but just flags from all countries - which means he's studied White flags in depth, of course...) cried about it being fake fake fake...

Ironically, this SAME "expert" was sold a reproduction (with provenance, including maker, date, etc...bought as a reproduction and sold as a reproduction) unit flag from a WW2 Soviet unit that he has on public display and has been claiming that it's an "original" flag since the day he got it.

So my flag, that has ample provenance even from The Russians to be a original flag is decried as a fake by someone who owns a known fake, but calls it real to other collectors.

These are the kind of "experts" that are beyond irritating.

1- Major General of Tanks M1940
Great looking tunics; all of them. If you ever need to make more space in your collection this tunic would look great in my collection!!! I have several M40's in my collection but like a dope I traded my tanks general off. Nice collection of tunics. Clete
