KGB at sea and oops!

I recently acquired these badges courtesy of Larry (of the "magic drawer" fame) and until I photographed them, I never noticed a little mistake.

I'm new to collecting these badges (despite my tendency towards all things KGB and law enforcement), and I can read them - pretty self-explanatory. In the first picture, the two badges are the same except for banner color and sky color. Is there a meaning behind this?

In the second phot, you can see the "veteran" badge is not the same quality as the others from the lettering. Anybody know who made these types of badges?

First the regular KGB border guard afloat badges (pin back) before the odd one:

Re: KGB at sea and oops!

Anyone notice anything odd about the spelling of this "coast guard" badge (excuse the slightly out-of-focus first picture)? Hint: American kids usually make this mistake in reverse when learning to write...;)

This isn't the kind of mistake a Russian factory would make, which leads me to believe this was not made in a Russian factory.

Yes, what else would you expect from badges produced in the Baltic States.

I just found this thread while doing some research here on the forum, and I wanted to know if Lapa's remark could be clarified. Are ALL of these Marine Border Guard badges regarded as "fantasy"?

Sure can :D

IMHO, 99.9995% of these badges are fantasies produced in the Baltic States for eager Western collectors for whom the initials KGB trigger an immediate pavlovian reaction :chuckle
