. . . a tentative overview:

THE ORDER OF MILITARY VALOR
Ca. 1926-31. Battushig A 21.

1st award (small star, 3 maker’s marks)
Type 1 (no s/n)
Type 2 (serial numbered, No. _) - Low = ??/High = 18
2nd award (Arabic number “2” at bottom) - not seen, does it exist?
3rd award (Arabic number “3” at bottom) - not seen, does it exist?
4th award (Arabic number “4” at bottom) - not seen, does it exist?

1st award
Type 1 (МОНДВОР, s/n No) - Low = 2/High = 613
Type 2 (МОНДВОР curved, s/n No) - Low = ??/High = ??
Type 3 (large МОНДВОР, s/n No) - Low = ??/High = ??
Type 4 (МОНЕТНЫЙ ДВОР, s/n No) - Low = 318/High = 659

2nd award (Mongolian number 2) - Low = ??/High = 69

3rd award (Mongolian number 3) - not seen, does it exist?

4th award (Mongolian number 4) - not seen, does it exist?

1941-46; order for 1-3000 in July 1941 for first batch and later batches through 1944. Battushig A 22.1-22.4.

1st award
Type 1.1 (МОНЕТНЫЙ ДВОР mintmark; 3 rivets) - Low = 4/High = 212
Type 1.2.1 (МОНЕТНЫЙ ДВОР mintmark; 4 rivets; SN at 6 o'clock near bottom) - Low = 44/High = 2401
Type 1.2.2 (МОНЕТНЫЙ ДВОР mintmark; 4 rivets; SN engraved directly below screwpost) - Low = 1007/High = 2581

2nd award - Low = 12/High = 56

3rd award - Low = 9/High = 32

4th award (МОНЕТНЫЙ ДВОР mintmark; SN at 6 o'clock near bottom; 4 rivets) - Low = 4/High = 150

I suspect many of these higher numbered awards, especially the "2", "3", and "4" awards, are unissued bank escapees.

Shown is a first award type 1.2.1 and the award (two of them) in wear.

The Cyrillic Mongolian for this award is «Цэргийн Гавьяаны Улаан Туг» Одон which translates as "Military Merit Red Banner" Order.

Type 1.2 (as above, but with Cyrillic “B” mintmark) - Low = 1332/High = 1955
Type 2.1 (Pinback 3 rivets; SN at 12 o'clock, 1960 arms) - Low = 3160/High = 4449 - 1969-?? - 3001-4500 ordered Oct 1969 and 4501-5500 in Feb 1987
Type 2.2 (Pinback 2 rivets; SN at 5 o'clock) - Low = 4584/High = 5392
Type 3.1 (pinback, bronze) - Low = 5512/High = 5688
Type 3.2 (pinback, bronze, unnumbered, escapee?)

2nd award (Screwback; 3 rivets; SN just below screwpost – perhaps 40 awarded?) - Low = 3/High = 398

3rd award (Screwback; 3 rivets; SN just below screwpost – perhaps 10-15 awarded?) - Low = 5/High = 200

4th award (Screwback; 3 rivets; SN just below screwpost – perhaps 4-5 awarded?) - Low = 2/High = 94

It changes over time. It is not this simplistic.

I am not sure if anybody noticed this on eba$, but a certain seller bought ORBCV #1955 from Alexei and is now trying to flip it for over $400. I find that disappointing.

Was that the cheap one he had for sale for quite some time? I think i pointed the good deal out in another thread, it may have given somebody a "good" idea...
