How come this somewhat "cheap" looking badge is given such importance to be included in ribbon bars? It appears in several variations in ribbon bars.

I suppose it can depend on the recipient, or the person making the bars up as to what is included but the Badge is mostly found making up numbers to keep all the lines of the bars an equal number. such as 3-3-3 or 4-4 rather than 3-3-2 or 4-3. At the same time these Badges are not seen being added to the large Kolodka mount.

An interesting ribbon bar to a Stalingrad battle participant, who also took part in the battle for Dukla Pass (Czechoslovak 1939 Cross of Valor and Dukla commemorative medal). Quite highly decorated person - even if ORB, one ORS and CSM are long service, he had OPW 1, OPW2, ORS and OBoH. And it is from around 1968-1975 (lack of later jubilee awards.
Interestingly, the 50 years of the Soviet Army ribbon has been made from another one (the central red stripe has been painted white on the sides!)

The base white color of the ribbon does not glow at all, but the inner green stripes glow under a black light. Is that normal for that color/ribbon?
