Membership books of the OSOAVIACHIM
There have been quite slow here in the paper section, so I’m starting a new Thread. Membership books of the OSOAVIACHIM. Show your membership books!
First (brown). This one covers years from 1935-39. 10 000 000 made! Second (blue). Covers 1937-46. 1 000 000 made. |

Third (“ersatz”?). Covers 1943-1950. Issued in Leningrad. No information on how many made. Very poor quality in both paper and print.
Forth (estonian). Covers 1941(!)- 48. This one has no “stamps” before 1945. Only 50 000 made. Has bilingual text. The last three all have a one rubel paper stamp in the begining. So the cost for a membership in the OSOAVIACHIM was one rubel at least from 1939-1945, the years these books were issued. I doubt that these are all the variants of the book. So show any other that you have!! Sample of the inside of the Estonian one. Last edited by CtahhR; 03-14-2012 at 08:54 AM. |

How the heck did I miss this thread? I collect Oso and I'd sure like to see what others have in that area. I'll start with this Georgian membership book from 1936.

Here is a 1931 RSFSR Osoaviakhim membership booklet.
Hope you enjoyed these. I have a lot of Osoaviakhim paper around here somewhere. I just didn't think anyone was interested. Chuck In Oregon Last edited by CtahhR; 03-14-2012 at 08:57 AM. |

Hi Chuck
Nice booklets! I have always found it harder to find paper items than badges. So it is always good to see this stuff. Any other types of books, like Armenian or Azeri? I have shown all the diffrent kinds I have. All other Osoaviachim papers I have left to show are badge papers. Perhaps a future thread... :D /Kim |

Hello Kim
This was a good thread you started "way back when", even though you didn't get any response. I can't believe that I overlooked it. I collect Oso as one of my 3-4 main collecting themes, as I said, but these may be my only membership books. I'll look around. Maybe you and I are the only ones interested? If I find another book, you can be sure I'll post it. I have a lot of other Oso paper, including gramotas, training posters, one or two very good photos and oddball things like that. I also have a number of badges, which were the first things I collected. I have duplicates of several. I even have a "building plaque" that they put on the outside front of a building when a resident either 1) became a member, or 2) earned a significant Oso award. I have never been quite sure which. Unfortunately, since it is plaster over wire, it broke into a bunch of pieces when I brought it back. It now has a place in my garden, next to some Roman vase mouths and roof tiles, honored remnants of times past. As for paper collectibles, I enjoy them as much as badges and I have many. I'll be going back to Georgia in nine days, but I'll post more of them when I get back in early May. I would like to see more Oso items on the forum and I would be glad to post some later on. I can probably contribute something to any Oso thread. The more, the better. Chuck In Oregon ... for nine more days |

Yes, we are probably a selcet few who collect osoaviachim.
A couple of years ago my Russian friend was on a visit at the flat of a collector collegue. My friend knows I like oso-stuff so when he saw a big velvet flag with the osoaviachim symbols hanging on the wall he asked if he could buy it. The other guy laught and said yeah right, of course you can. Nothing happened that time, they were doing some serious trading and my frind forgot the flag. Next time he visit the flag was gone. Where is the flag, my friend asked him. What... you were serious when you wanted osoaviachim stuff, he replied. What can one say.... I guess if it isn't military, "pure military", it's not worth collecting.... But I do think of that flag sometimes and how nice it would have looked on my wall. I am sorry to here about the plaque :( I just recently found that thread and liked it a lot. If you find two new ones I am VERY willing to trade you for one. I am sure I can dig up something to trade with. Good luck in Georgia! I will try to start some threads about paper and badges, so you have something to read about there. /Kim |

OSOAVIAHIM/DOSAAF Membership Booklets
Hi Guys, I though that I would share one of my Christmas presents with you.
I love the detail to this book with the various badges used as a background to the pages. Plus the stamps to show that the dues had been paid. Cheers, Ade.

Re: OSOAVIAKhIM membership booklet from 1939
THAT is one nice booklet! :thumbsup :thumbsup
The OSOAVIAKhIM is what, ready for work and chenical defense group or something along those lines? And the stamps inside indicate a trade union sort of deal? Anyhow, Santa was nice to Ade this year. I've got a nice early Komsomol booklet on the way. Will share when it shows up.:D
