Fake Medals for Victory over Germany and Japan - Page 5

I bought this last year from xxxxxxxxx: I was promised a certificate of authenticity, it was never forthcoming: I've never been 100% happy, but I'll let you guys tell me if I'm wrong. The pics are straight from his site, as mine are locked away with the rest of my collection. Cost around 9.95 gbp.

Seems rather flat. These should be nice and 3-D, not as flat surfaced as this appears

Could be a scanning effect ... I am not sure I like the ring either, but let's wait for some better pictures.

Hi Guys, here are some better pics of the article note the colour in comparison with the other medal, it was scanned at the same time in the same frame, and note the bare solder on the ring:

600DPI (my scanners max).

I can try with my GF macro camera if needs be.

The hero and marshal stars (on stalin's portrait) seem to big and to crude. Also, thie size of the hero star from upper edge of the suspension to the lower arm should be about 3mm and the distance between the star and the ribbon bar - 0,9-1mm
Don't know if it applies for all, but this one is definately far from this proportion...

I would not buy that one at 9.95 GBP, that's for sure :thumbsdown ... and btw., the Victory over Germany is very very common - who would bother to write a certificate of authenticity for a such common item?

Thanks, I bought one of everything he had on the offchance they were pukka, but it seems only 2 were (at least I hope the red banner and badge of honour were :-( )

Your medal is a nice, genuine one, most likely from just after the end of the war.
