Airborne uniform
Any opinions on this uniform? I found it at an auction site for the price of 85 euros and noone has bid on it. Is it a good price for a complete uniform?
The shoulderboards and the sleevepatch looks a little strange and what are those medals on his left side? |

It appears very short in length? Might be something with the photo and the way it is displayed on my monitor..?

para's used that short jacket.
looks ok to me, but is for a para who is leaving the service and "upgraded" his uniform. You see these around Gorky Park when the ex-paras hang out and stuff. Interesting uniform for a modern collector; good price. DD |

This is a classic example of a DMB uniform or demobisation unifirom. There were several ways in which conscripts would enchance the appearance of the uniform for their homcoming in order to make them look more imortant than they actually were :) .
Here he appeards to have removed one of the buttons and made the tunic a three button tunic which was quite popular - escpecially among paras on their DML uniforms. The komsomol badge has been enhanced with what looks like an old belt buckle. The badges look ok and the arm patch looks like it has been enhanced too. One thing to look out for is the guards badge. Often these would be made from light aluminium and ARE NOT fakes, these were worn during the late 1980s on these uniforms. One thing that surprises me is that there is no red flash on the beret. I have three DML uniforms in my collection and they are all unique in the way that they are enhanced.

So what do you think? Should I bid on it for 85 euros? Have far should I go in the biding? What would be the highest acceptable price to buy it for?

prices
BC, youneed to learn that in militaria the item is worth what you are willing to pay for it, that simple. No one can tell you how high to go...is it reasonable now? Yes,in my opinion. How high to go is up to you.

I think you can find a uniform like these much cheaper if you look around a bit...
By the way, there is a bid on the uniform now...

It depends on how much you want it. I have seen these uniforms going for much less and I did see one going for $130 quite recently. they do turn up from time to timebut it all depends on how much you want the uniform. I paid £40 for mine which I thought was reasonable.
