"War Veteran" Medal.
I recently acquired my first Mongolian group. I have no idea what this document is. Any help identifying and translating would be very much appreciated! :thumbsup
Thanks in advance! Alex Last edited by CtahhR; 09-20-2011 at 08:26 PM. |

Re: Unknown document for ID
Alex, I don't read Mongolian, but I do recognize at least the suggestion of the symbol of the state security organization's sword and shield on the representation of the award. However, I have no idea what the arrows are for on either side. Perhaps the military defense department?

Re: Unknown document for ID
It is what Battushig describes (C45) as the "War Veteran" badge. Now, with a dicument in hand, the chances are much greater of figuring out more facts and details about it. Thanks for posting this.

Re: Unknown document for ID
Thank you, Phillip and Ed, for your help! :thumbsup
I don't have Battushig's book, but I take it it lacks more info about the award. Anyone around that reads Mongolian and can help translate the document? I'm really curious what the "war veteran" part refers to, since the badge was award in 2003 and the recipient appears to have had no combat service. |

Re: Unknown document for ID
Tried to translate it, and it might missing some subtle meaning and did not pick an appropriate word.
Dear mister Sh.Jamsranjav: for your consecutive dedication to the military service and for contribution to develop the defence sector hereby award you ‘’war veteran medal’’ by order—2001 march 01 of minister of defence. Ministry of Defence 2001 march 01 Ulaanbaatar @redmaestro2 your assumption might be true because we Mongolians have a custom that every organization and office receives their pensioners after the lunar new year celebration annually, often award them like this medal.
