Chollima Honour Badge.

Cholima Badge is the rarest badge of North Korea. And I was informed its price is high in international collection market. Here is the picture of Cholima badge once I had.

As I knew, its production and awarding suddenly ended and the government did not want to hear from it never again. therefore, nobody had to want to hear from it as well. If anyone knows why, let us know!

Hi, Dear Esteban

I really don't hear such thing. Because Cholima is DPRK's symbol, I think there should be awardings. But it is really expensive. Once I saw a dealer in US sold it at $950 or some.

Re: North Korea Cholima Badge

Perhaps you refer to the NJ dealer of the ridiculously high prices. He once sold a Chollima for a quite high sum. In the description he stated that these awards were abolished and forgotten.

New arrival, a Chollima Honor Prize, Type 3. It would be good to get the full story behind these.

Nice. Looks like the same one posted back in 2007 by Reichsrommel. Black spot in the white and same wear on the reverse.

Actually, Erik, yes it does. It is sometimes amazing how small our universe is, especially for uncommon things.

I think it was the DPRK's version of Mao's "Great Leap forward" program.

I believe that things did not go well with the effort. Therefore, if the Cholima badges were awarded for a modernization effort that turned out badly, the badges themselves may have become "honor non grata". Why acknowledge an award for a program that was a disaster? It becomes a reminder of a bad idea.

And in the DPRK, the government does not have bad ideas !
:chuckle
That is one fine point, Will. History showed us more than once that east bloc countries have a DEL button they pushed more than once in their histories when things "didn´t fit well".

Re: North Korea Cholima Badge

A fairly similar moment to China's "Great Leap Forward"?

And all countries, of course, diddle their remembered history. Even Chile.

Absolutely.

In the DPRK, the revision of history is a way of life.

The Korean War began when the south invaded the north!

The role of Soviet support for the North, to include training, equipment, planning, and Mig pilots, is all unmentioned.

The DPRK approach to the Chollima badge is much like the old Soviet approach to Trotsky and others who fell out of favor or who were reminders of unwanted memories: they were removed from the picture. Literally. Airbrushed right out of the photos!
