Victory over Germany in the WW2 document

Interesting document for the medal "Victory over Germany in WW2" for the participants of the Parade of Victory.

Re: Victory over Germany in the WW2 document

This is exceedingly rare. I have two, but this is the first time I've seen awarded to an actual parade participant in the 1 Belorussian Front combined unit. Neat!

Re: Victory over Germany in the WW2 document

Very nice Eric:thumbsup. These documents don't seem to come up that often.

I also have one - for a colonel at the Voroshilov Higher Military Academy.

Wish mine was for a frontovik like yours.

Does anyone know how many of this version were issued?

Simon

Victory over Germany Medal RED COVER document

I have only seen six of these and would be interested to see if any of our forum members have more information or examples.

Three of the six are ones I've seen on the web. The one on ÎÐÄÅÍÀ È ÌÅÄÀËÈ ÑÑÑÐ with a serial number of #72.940 awarded 18 JUN 45, in addition to two others on the four-letter international auction site.

The three in my collection are:

1. #13.592 dated 18 JUN 45 and awarded by the composite 3 Ukrainian Front regiment that actually marched in the Victory Parade on 24 JUN 45 (pictured here)
2. #12.114 dated 21 JUN 45 and
3. #33.773 dated 19 JUN 45.

I first heard these red-covered docs were only awarded to Victory Parade recipients, but #1 is the only one I've seen actually awarded to a Parade participant. Additionally #2 and #3 were awarded by Red Army organizations within the capital so the Parade-recipient rumor can't be true.

If there is more participation or interest, maybe we could pin this as a reference thread similar to the Bravery Medal "ring" versus "tongue" suspension attachment.

Re: Victory over Germany Medal RED COVER document

In the interim, some not very good scans.

Part of the larger group to Major Vladimir Fedorovich Dubrovin. Guess I haven't put it up here?

Re: Victory over Germany Medal RED COVER document

Thanks! Nice one. He probably didn't directly participate in the parade, but was probably directly involved in issuing the awards and selecting the personnel in the 1 Belorussian regiment.

Yes, he was a paper-pusher in the Cadre Department. Relevant assignments:

30.10.43 Assistant to Commander of 1st Dept. Cadres Units 1st White Russian Front

October 1945 Deputy Commander of Unit Cadres for Staff of the 1st White Russian Front

24.5.46 Military Commandant for the city of "Khainikhen" as Raion-Senior Soviet Military Administrator of Federal [illegible] in Germany

14.10.47 Officer of 1st Department, Kuibishev Oblast Military Commissariat

Very bizarre temporary certificate for VoG

Temporary certificate using Roman font to try to emulate Cyillic. A rough translation:

Issued (upper left) by 108th Independent Labor Battalion to Red Army Man (Krasnarmeits) Makary Denisovich Nun(ichi?)k, who took part in the GPW from 12.12.43 to 9.5.45 on the 1st Ukrainian Front, this is the Temporary Certificate for his

Victory Over Germany Medal.

Stamped and signed by the Btn CO, Major Ural'sky.
