Russian POW ID Tag?
Greetings to all,
I looked through the various forums before posting this question and hope that I picked the right one for posting my question. I am trying to determine if the attached image is that of a Russian POW tag. I have 4 of which have been noted as being as such but I myself have no idea. If it is, are they common or scarce and is there some way to research the specific information on the tag? I thank you in advance,

Stalag
Hello Mark,
I can ´t read the number and letter behind the word STALAG maybe 1B? STALAG were the name of prisoner camps located in Germany. Stalag 1B was situated in Hohenstein in Eastern Germany, after 1945 the area became part of Poland and today Hohenstein is now Olsztynek. regards Andreas Last edited by Alfred; 07-11-2005 at 01:26 PM. |

Marc, I did some research on the german web. Yes, it is a prisoner of war ID. But I don´t know if this item is from a russian prisoner. Maybe it could also be from a polish soldier? Here is another ID from another STALAG. And a paper card from a prisoner of war. I can´t see clearly on the picture, if he wears an ID around his neck. regards Andreas |
