Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment

As a motor operator of Torpedo Cutter #46, Comrade Mileiko is a highly disciplined Red Seaman and valorous warrior.

During the repair of his torpedo cutter in Poti in November Comrade Mileiko worked hard, disregarding fatigue and placing as his sole desire the most rapid repair of the ship.

On the night of 19th-20th November Torpedo Cutter #46 clandestinely penetrated into the port of Anapa and exploded a loaded barge with a torpedo. During the raid and exfiltration the cutter’s motor worked perfectly thanks to the efforts of motor operator Comrade Mileiko. Despite a hurricane of enemy fire at the cutter and hull penetrations Comrade Mileiko did not abandon his post for a minute. Comrade Mileiko is deserving of the Order of the Patriotic War II Class for steadfastness in combat and valor.

Signed Commander, Black Sea Fleet, 2nd Torpedo Cutter Brigade, 3rd Torpedo Cutter, Captain-Lieutenant Volchkov on 22nd December, 1942

Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment

Senior Red Seaman V.M. Mileiko has been an active participant in many combat operations conducted on torpedo cutters since the very beginning of the Patriotic War.

Comrade Mileiko proved himself as valorous and brave working his machinegun non-stop in battles near Odessa against numerically superior enemy forces. As a result of one engagement an enemy escort vessel was damaged and the others fled. In fighting for Sevastopol, the most important base of the Black Sea Fleet, against an enemy several times numerically superior (3 versus 15) Comrade Mileiko poured continuous machinegun fire against enemy craft. In one engagement a high-speed landing barge and escort ship were destroyed and an escort ship damaged. In subsequent operations he supported torpedo cutters in the attack – Senior Red Seaman Mileiko repelled a ship, attracting fire to himself thus enabling a torpedo cutter to land a long-range torpedo against enemy targets. Senior Red Seaman Mileiko is deserving of the Order of the Red Star.
