Collar Tabs

Are these real?

Kinda interesting...

I like the badges even if they are fake.

What's the deal with the tab on the left being upsidedown?

Rusty.

What about these collar tabs

I am interested by few uniform accessories and fell on these these collar tabs?

Are they real? I mean, are they legit, authentic, regulatory? They are certainly unissued I understand and accept this, but do you think they were made during soviet time and are ok?

Is it normal that some are smaller than others?

Thanks to inform me.

These look authentic. The larger tabs are greatcoat collar patches, easily identifable by the lack of gilt metal trim (which was used on parade and service tunics). The smaller ones are tunic collar patches, worn on service uniforms.

They are (first picture left to right) - Justice Troops, Railway troops, Airforce, Topographical troops, Military Transport, KGB, Artillery and Motor Rifle Infantry.

Next picture left to right - Civillain Police, Airborne, Construction troops, Artillery (attached to a Motor Rifle unit), Chemical troops, Military Construction, MVD and Signals.

Thanks vikingraider1,
Your information is very useful. I didn't notice or realize that there was a difference in collar tabs for greatcoat and service uniform tunics.

Yes, the greatcoat tabs are larger and don't have any gilt aluminium attachments. The smaller tunic collar patches were found on all serivice uniforms for officers and conscripts up until 1973 (I think). After that, the gilt aluminium attachemts were added. The small collar patches continued to be worn on conscripts field uniforms which also doubled up as a service uniform.

What are the differences between the tabs with gilt silver trim and gold trim? I assume silver is for EM, but when were they used? I have seen only gold on EM uniforms, however. Were silver collar tabs part of the M1988 regulations?

Silver shoulderboards and edgings used to signify the technical/professional services, e.g. medical, engineering, but eventually these were replaced with the same gold ones as used by regular forces.

Also, sometimes instances of faint plating shows up as silver/white instead of yellow/gold in photos.

I think that these collars are real ones but they are belong to one of Eastern Block countries, not Soviet Union.
