In 1915 crossed the frontline from the Russian army and joined the Polish Legions ulan [polish cavalry of tartar provenience, at that time already common name for light cavalery fighing mauinly with lances and sabres] regiment of Belina [pseudonym of the commander]. After the "Oath Crisis" [an episode strongly connected with the legend of Polish Legions in the Austro Hungary - in short, the Legionists refused to swear allegiance to the Emperor-King] assigned to the Polish Reinforcement Corps where he serves until it's disbandment.
He finishes the Ukrainian Campain with the rank of lieutenant in the Death Battallion of the Academy Legion.
In the Bolshevik Campaign he serves as a battery commander in the 4th mounted artillery regiment.
After the war he works as a farmer.
In Książ Wielki he organises a farmers' cooperative.
He takes active part in the life of the village's government's life in the community councils and powiat council.
As a farmer of vocation he publishes his works in the agriculture press and publishes a number of books.
In the Years 1936-1937 he is the chief editor of the Polish Daily - Poznań newspaper.

15.Reasons for motion and award class:
Since the start of the European War he takes active part in the fights of the voluntary formations and later in the fights of the regular Polish Army.
In the civilian life in the village he shown a lot of citizen's initiative at organising the village life, economical territorial government and veteran organisations, in which he holds executive posts. As a journalist, he always represented the pro-state view, faithful to the ideas he aquired in the ranks of the 1st Brigade of the Polish Legions.
Because of the circumstances given, he deserves to be awardedwith Gold Cross of Merit.
