I recently picked up Moldovan Medal "For Bravery" (Pentru Vitejie) numbered 00022 and I was wondering if anyone out there knew a way in way I could research it?
Today I contacted the Moldovan Ministry Of Justice - Department Of Processing And Dissemination Of Legal Documents to see if they could assist me in tracking down the Decree and Awardee of this particular medal as they hold all the records of such things. Time will tell what sort of reply I get but hopefully they will be able to at least point me in the right direction. This medal is almost certainly an award for Bravery during the Moldovan-Transnistrian War that occurred during and just after the collapse of the Soviet Union. It is also very possible that this person was also a member of the Soviet Armed Forces and possibly also decorated by them. Fingers crossed. |

Finally I was giving some "cast iron" information on this award. Not much but a start.
"Transnistrian War" Investigation is still ongoing. A full citation is a long way away but every little helps. It may have been four years since I poked at this but here is 00075.

Re: Medal "For Bravery".
Here is #0473.
This may not be for the Transnistrian War.

Re: Medal "For Bravery".
Here is #00513. This does not have the more ornate suspension, yet seems to be original. Did Moldova change to the ordinary suspension after the first 500? This Medal is a lot thinner than earlier examples.
