Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment
From 19.04.45-23.04.45 as a radio operator on the captured bridgehead during the Oder forced river crossing operation, Private Bendel provided uninterrupted communications between the battery commander and his subordinate gun systems for four days in a flooded swamp, thus supporting the penetration of the strong enemy defense and the subsequent pursuit of the enemy. In a similar manner, Private Bendel additionally provided uninterrupted communications on 30.04.45 in fighting for the city of Wesenberg.
For his ability and displaying boldness in combat, Private Bendel is deserving of the Bravery Medal.
