Gymnastiorka: fake or altered
Guys,
I bought this gymnastiorka at Santiago some months ago for $80 aprox. The guy told me that it was so expensive because it was from WWII and the two medals included(you could choose them). I´d like to see what do you think. I saw other ones and had pockets, why this has no ones? Also the shoulderboards do not convince me. They had a strange air force badge(coming soon) and a word written inside... Esteban

m1943 Gymnastiorka
The M1943 Gymnastiorka was used from 1943 through at least 1968. The air force epaulets appear to be the M1958 style, which was used through 1968. (the WWII style had a red stripe in the center for junior officers, with the blue piping along the perimeter.) The wings on the epaulets are branch of service insignia for air force technicians. There may be a date stamped inside the tunic. Someone once told me that the backs of the buttons also are date stamped.
All in all, it looks like a proper post-war uniform. |

I would have to agree with k3rvmfusa on this one. I have several examples of M1943 Gynastoirka and this one looks like a mid-1950s tunic. For starters, the shoulder boards are M1958 which would not make this tunic WWII era. If you are going to pay big bucks ( and lets face it for a tunic on its own $80 is quite a lot) then it should be totally original. Check the backs of the buttons and for date stamps inside. I bet you will find it is 50s or possible later.

its vry very postwar
the pullover is very postwar, circa 1960 or so. $80 is high for one of this era, very low if it were genuine WWII.
check the back of the buttons for a date. DD |

And the word written in the tunic? What does it say?
