Badge "The Red Banner Of Three Great Revolutions".
Here is the Badge "The Red Banner Of Three Great Revolutions" (3대혁명붉은휘장) 1st Class. Founded on the 20th November 1986. Constructed of plated aluminium and featuring the Chollima.

Here is a group of female soldiers, each wearing at least one of these badges.

Re: Badge "The Red Banner Of Three Great Revolutions".
Here is another variation of the 1st Class award. It has been crudely dated on the reverse "1999.9" so it would indicate a September 1999 award. Probably as close to "research" as would ever be possible.

Re: Badge "The Red Banner Of Three Great Revolutions".
Here is a second award Badge. Although this Badge is made out of the same light aluminium as the other Badges due to the fact that this is riveted together from two pieces that little bit of extra weigh really brings this Badge to the fore.
This Badge has been crudely inscribed "최순" (Choesun) on the reverse, a Korean female's given name which would fit in rather well with the above photograph.

Re: Badge "The Red Banner Of Three Great Revolutions".
Is there any information on how these relate to the order?
All three, side-by-side. |

Re: Badge "The Red Banner Of Three Great Revolutions".
They were all apparently founded on the same day (20th November 1986) and are awarded for similar reasons. The Badge may well be a lower level representation of the Order or it may be that the Badge is for Cadets/Apprentices and the such and the Orders for fully trained personnel. The Badge may also be for different service branches.
All we can be certain of at this time is that the Badge and Order were both created on the same day, both feature the same design and both are very frequent sites on uniformed personnel. There is also no Medal equivalent.

Re: Badge "The Red Banner Of Three Great Revolutions".
This has led some to refer to this as a three-class order (which I'd think is mistaken, but we may never have the sources to prove anything).
The Sessler/McDaniel, Boik, and Cabral books aren't a great deal of help here. Last edited by medals73; 04-19-2012 at 12:58 PM. |

Re: Badge "The Red Banner Of Three Great Revolutions".
The Order comes in a single class. The badge itself comes in 2 Classes and at least a 2nd award. As for the hierarchy of the awards of the Badges it may be Silver then Gold then 2nd award of Gold or it may not.
They are very nice visually although the poor quality of the 1st award Badges is very distracting. The 2nd award Badge is of a higher quality and is my preferred of the three. As of yet I have not seen any award documents for any of these Badges nor the Order, Although I suspect the Order would be awarded with the usual Order Booklet. There is a lot of information which has yet to work its way out but it will, eventually.
