Large Greetings Folders.

I realy like those documents!
Just remember that there was NO computer printers, and each doc was individually Printed. And the hard bounds are great looking .

Those are offered for sale, and belonged to Marshal of the Soviet Union Matvey Zakharov, Soviet Chief of Staff and First Deputy Defense Minister.

Greeting from the Main Political Department of the Soviet Army and Navy. Hand-signed by General of the Army Aleksey Epishev and two other commanding generals.

Greeting from Shchelokov, Minister of Protecting the Public Order (1960s name for the Ministry of Interior). The letter is executed in beautiful calligraphy and hand-signed by Shchelokov.

What a nice printing in gold!

large maroon covered binder given to him on his 90th birthday, and is signed by FIFTY (50) senior officers- no one junior to a General of the Army! There are four Marshals of the Soviet Union, twenty-three Generals of the Army, two Chief Marshals of Aviation, three Admirals of the Fleet, eight Marshals of Aviation, two Marshals of Engineers, two Marshals of Artillery, and more! These include names such as: Sokolov, Pavlovskii, Kulikov, Kurotkin, Ogarkov, Kozhedub, etc etc...
This group includes six, large, red, hard-covered documents that were presented to Luchinsky on his birthdays. There are a few other items, as well:

The first document is a large maroon covered binder given to him on his 90th birthday, and is signed by FIFTY (50) senior officers- no one junior to a General of the Army!

The next document is another red, hard covered document given to him on his 80th birthday, signed by the Minister of Defense of the USSR, Marshal of the Soviet Union Ustinov.

Next, we have another document in red folder for another birthday (1988) signed by General of the Army Yazov.

Fourth is yet another document, maroon hard covered, for his 70th birthday, signed by 28 Marshals of the Soviet Union, Generals of the Army, etc... To include Bagramyan, Vasilevskii, Konev, Koshevoi, Gorbatov, Golivkov- all the 'old timers'!!!

Fifth is another document, hard red covered, for his 80th birthday signed by General of the Army Batov and Secretary of the Soviet Veteran's Committee, Marseev

And again, number six is another folder, this one for his 75th birthday, signed by yet ANOTHER THIRTY-SIX Marshals and Generals, including Chuikov, Bagramyan, Agaltsov, Getman, Katukov, Rudenko and more!

56th Guards Tank Brigade Commemorative Documents.

Hello All

I just got what I believe is a set of 3 documents for a veteran of the 56th Guards Tank Brigade and would appreciate some help identifying exactly what they are as I've never seen veteran documents quite like these. Also I'm trying my hand at translating so please let me know if I got the titles to the document right. There are several pictures that I'll post sequentially.

The first picture is of all 3 with a veteran's medal for scale.

Re: 40th Anniversary GPW Veteran Document ID

The first booklet which I think says: Happy Victory(?) 56th Guards Order of Lenin, Red Banner, Suvorov and Kutuzov Tank Brigade

The second photo shows what I believe to be the recipient and the third shows the signatories.

The second booklet: 40 Years Victory Great Patriotic War

There's what looks like a poem on the first page followed by 2 pages of text.

Re: 40th Anniversary GPW Veteran Document ID

And one last photo from the third book.

So is this a set given to one veteran or separate booklets. Also what occasion would warrant such an elaborate set vs. the standard award document that normally accompanies a veteran badge, like the ones Paul Schmitt shows in his guide to veteran badges. I have more photos if they are needed.

Re: 40th Anniversary GPW Veteran Document ID

These are elaborate, commemorative veteran documents issued to members of the particular unit's veterans committee at significant anniversaries of the action in question.

Re: 40th Anniversary GPW Veteran Document ID

Thanks for the information. Just one more question. Did I identify the unit on the first booklet correctly as the 56th Tank Brigade?

Hero Of The Soviet Union Commemoration Of 30 Years Of Victory.

This is yet another "I had this for a while" items. I never really thought much of it until I found it today while reorganizing my documents drawer and folders.

Has anyone ever seen one like this?

If I'm reading it correctly, Comrade Anton Gurevich was given a "national holiday" by the Regional Committee Bureau of the Communist Party in Zaporozhye, Ukraine in honor of his 30th anniversary as an HSU, OR, more likely, on the national holiday (Victory Day presumably) he was awarded the title of HSU in 1975 while celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory in the Great Patriotic War. Yet the third possibility seems more promising: Gurevich was chosen as a sort of "designated honoree" for that region because he was an HSU from that region on the 30th anniversary in 1975 of the victory in WWII. I'm not sure which it is because honestly, I did a sort of "skimmed" translation. If someone has more time, you won't hurt my feeling by correcting me.;) The letter style of the document threw me.

But I am more curious about the document itself. It is not in the best of condition on the outside, but the front cover actually has a nicely textured hanger "ribbon" for the gold star and the whole folder is leatherbound.

I was wondering if anyone has seen this sort of thing before and whether it is more common than I think it might be. It is stamped with the seal of the Regional Communist Party, but no signatures and no specific dates other than "1945-1975" are present, which leads me to think this is more common than not.

I just thought some people might be interested.:)
