Medal Of The 40th Anniversary Of People's Poland.

This Medal was instituted by decree of the State Council on April 26th, 1984 to commemorate 40th Anniversary of people's rule.
Awarded for distinguished professional work or political activity in any period between 1944 and 1984.

It is a Silver Medal, diameter 32 mm.
On the obverse there is a non-crowned Polish eagle, flanked above diagonaly with two ears of corn, symbolizing agriculture, and below with gear wheels, symbolizing industry.
Above the eagle there are the letters XL (also found on the Ribbon bar), below the letters PRL, on the left middle 1944, and 1984 on the right.
On the reverse there is a map of Poland with the inscription WALKA / PRACA / SOCJALIZM (struggle, labour, socialism) inside, below there is a laurel spray.

This Medal was awarded over 4 million times and is extremely commonplace. This document with the Medal (and red plastic sleeve) was bought and delivered for under $2.

Hi Tomahawk,
Your example is on the ribbon either for the Socialist Youth Association Decoration of Janek Krasicki or the Polish-Soviet Friendship Society Meritorious Member Decoration.

Thank you for the information! I knew that ribbon, but until I went to my collection, I didn´t realize that is was the Janek Krasicki medal.
I didn´t know that this could be done, it was normal this thing?
