However, the design is almost identical (except for the words on the back) to the Chelomei medal which was instituted in 1987 (3600+ medals) and post CCCP medal in 2001 (200 medals).

The lack of the letters "CCCP" or "FK RF" (Federation of Cosmonautics of the Russian federation) could be an indication that this medal was awarded by the space enterprise and was not an official - state level - medal.

I will wait to the 2nd book....it is not yet published...
