Here is an Armed Forces Booklet for a 5th January 1990 awarded 3rd Class, issued on 22rd February 1990 to Captain Vladimir Alekseevich Kuz'menko by Commander of Military Unit #12471, Lieutenant-Colonel Sergej Mihajlovich Davydov.

Military Unit #12471 was the 47th Separate Engineering-Testing Unit based at Bajkonur, working on the Buran Programme, more specifically the testing of "11F35 K1" (Space Shuttle Buran 1.01) with "11K25" (The Energija Reusable Launch Vehicle) on the 15th November 1988, "11F36 №1L".

Captain Kuz'menko served in the position of Deputy Commander of Military Crew #2.

The launch was successful and the unmanned Buran 1.01 orbited earth twice. The programme was mothballed on 30th June 1993 and Buran 1.01 was destroyed by the effects of a storm on 12th May 2002.
