Hello Shawn,
I have checked this book and there is nothing like that in the book at all from any period which does tend to make it suspiciuos looking. I have yet to be convinced that it is genuine.

Tokar...
His book is good for a general reference but also leaves alot out and has errors. I say police because it has that general feel to me looking at the insignia; might just have that look due to the throwing on whatever they had. Police regulations were also a bit more informal; I am guessing that a local Police colonel would be high up ebnough to perhaps make his own summer tunic if he wished without getting into problems with the higher ups.
I do not think they would hange or add piping to a $70 uniform. I could see ( and have seen) piping changed from light air force blue to deep NKVD blue to try to double the price for an item, but why add red piping to a $65 tunic to make it a $70 tunic that eople still won't buy; just is not logical even to the fakers mind. We should chip in and buy the damn thing just to inspect it. DD |

When you think piping you think high quality piping. But without a better photo this could be a poor job just to improve sale. If someone will buy... well that is hard to say when "improve" your tunic. But the "rare" stuff always finds a buyer on E-bay, you just have to leave it there long enough.
Maybe I should "improve" my navy tunic just to see if it looks the same :D Perhaps we should leave this tunic now.... Don't think we will get any closer without buying it and I wouldn't wish that ugly tunic on any collection. /Kim

I´ll try to put something too: These colonel shoulder boards have silver stars. As I was told and seen, they´re golden. However, my Zhukov has silver ones, just like that one, so...
