Re: Fake Ushakov Medals

What makes you think it's a cast copy? Don't get me wrong if you have hold it in your hands and have examined/looked at it trough a good magnifier and you can see casting, it is. But according to this photos it's perfectly fine Ushakov medal, all the watermarks present so I'm confused

Re: Fake Ushakov Medals

What do you think about this lines on the letters A K O?

I am not totally sure about the medal.

Here is the award book with "strange" entry of the Ushakov and a 50 year anniversary medal.

regards
Andreas

I think it's hits or die was getting older. I can't see any casting signs, even die-cast must have that 'nice' dotty surface.

Re: Fake Ushakov Medals

The booklet seems a bit odd. Does the seller offer a story about why this was being awarded in 1966? Or are we saying this is a reissue booklet?

Re: Fake Ushakov Medals

No story behind this medal and book.

I bought it around 1995 and somebody told me many years ago this is a fake.
I´ll put it in a box and forgot it. That´s all.

best regards
Andreas

No Ukaz(Order to be granted) is 1966

Wondering, what the person must done in 1966 to be awarded by Ushakov medal?

It would most likely be a catch-up award.

Not always, unfortunately. Fakers have vastly improved their techniques, and the days of the obvious, "pebbled" surface are long over

Andreas,

At first glance, I tend to like it; apart from the defects you pointed out, all seems to be as it should.

Andreas,

I am guessing it's the serial number that has you confused. I believe the medal is genuine.

Re: Fake Ushakov Medals

Thanks Alexei,

yes the "deep" serial number the strange entry in the award book confused me.
Strange stamp of Ushakov medal and the 50 years aniversary medal stamp.

best regards
Andreas
