Lookup RKKA Commanders down to regiments and divisions level
Absolutely essential site for lookup of any commander's military record, down to regiments and divisions level, army or navy, by name, or other known pieces of info.
Worked for me almost on all of my generals... Also, allows users to correct stored data(!) http://www.soldat.ru/kom.html Enjoy! Alex. |

Alex-
Thanks for the link! I've entered in several of my 'fellows' and have gotten a world of information! For example, I was able to enter in the names of one of my Regimental commanders. I was not only able to get the dates of his time in command, but was also able to get the names and dates for all the other commanders of the same regiment, and also ran off the names of the divisional commanders with their dates in command, to verify the signatures on his citations. Additionally, I was able to find several regimental commissars as well. This is an excellent resource to use when being offered a 'high end' group without previous research. Thanks again! --Dave Last edited by Dave; 04-06-2003 at 02:15 PM. |

This is an excellent resource! I have some of the sources it is comprised of in paper or microfilm form and this is worlds better since it is electronic. I have spent up to 10 hours flipping through sources to find info on people and here it can be done in seconds!!!
Even for more common items (say WWII campaign medal docs) Dave's idea of looking up the unit commander to verify the signature is a great idea. Note though that many docs have "zam." written in pen near the signature showing that the deputy signed it on behalf of the named person so name and signature might not match. Shawn |

you've the right to laugh at me, but I've the greatest difficulties to use this source. If one of you is kind enough to give me 5 min for explanations (suppose necessary to fill the spaces in cyrillic?)
thanks by advance , sebastien
