The Long/loyal service Medal of the Deutsche Post was awarded by the German Democratic Republic (GDR), instituted on October 13th, 1960, first in three levels, Bronze, Silver, Gold , and supplemented on November 19th, 1971, by an honour clasp to the Long/loyal service medal in gold.

The award took place after a certain number of years service, the criteria was subjected to three changes:

1960-1970

for 50 years of service (men): In Gold
for 45 years of service (women): In gold
for 40 years service: In silver
for 25 years of service: In bronze

1971-1972

for 50 years of service (men): honour clasp to the gold medal
for 45 years of service (women): honour clasp to the gold medal
for 40 years service: In gold
for 25 years of service: In silver
for 10 years of service: In bronze

in 1973

for 40 years of service (men): honour clasp to the gold medal
for 35 years of service (women): honour clasp to the gold medal
for 30 years of service: In gold
for 20-year-old service: In silver
for 10 years of service: In bronze
