That observation really got me thinking.
Now most of these authors of life stories in the Soviet Union will have been retired soldiers who had had a particularly rough life by our standards. Did they embark on book tours? I don't see Brezhnev signing books at the mall but what was the promotion of these books like? Did the authors put themselves out there or did an enthusiastic admirer ambush the Marshal in this case?
