Three Books I Can Recommend
While doing research for my new book I found three excellent books. This is the first:
Battle for the Caucasus Andrei Grechko, Marshal of the Soviet Union Copyright 2001 by University Press of the Pacific This book gives an excellent account of the fight for the Caucasus. It has pictures of each commander for a particular battle. It is even handed in it's account of the fight between the German and soviet forces. I HIGHLY recommend this book. The second book is an excellent account of the battle for Moscow: Assault on Moscow 1941, The Offensive, The Battle, The Set-Back By Werner Haupt Copyright 1996 by Schiffer Publishing Ltd. A well written and informative book about the Battle for Moscow. It is rich with maps and B/W & Color plates. Another book I can recommend. The third book Covers the retreat of Germany's retreat from the Baltic areas. Most books focus on Leningrad. This book goes beyond leningrad to the Baltic States. Retreat From Leningrad, Army Group North 1944/1945 By Steven H. Newton Copyright 1995 By Steven H. Newton This book gives an excellent account of the German Army Group North's retreat to and through the Baltics. There are maps and an ORBAT in the Appendix. Overall a very good book. :thumbsup:thumbsup Doc |

Re: Three Books I Can Recommend
I forgot to add this book in my library.
"The Battle for Leningrad 1941-1944 By David M. Glantz Copyright 2002 By the university Press of Kansas 660 pages with maps and B/W pictures His ORBAT is considered the most accurate and has been used in books by other authors. He has many other books regarding the Soviet union in WWII. I HIGHLY recommend this book!!!:thumbsup:thumbsup :) Doc |
