Fatherland Front Membership.

Here is a Fatherland Front Membership Card from 16th April 1948 to Lawyer Andrej Bozhidarov Tatarchev. It is accompanied by a receipt for 300 Levs for his April to September 1948 Membership.
Usually this type of item is completely ignored but these inconspicuous documents have opened up a story.

Andrej Bozhidarov Tatarchev was born 28th May 1913 and may now 100 years later just be another lawyer lost to history but he was the son of Doctor Bozhidar Andriev Tatarchev.

Dr. Bozhidar Tatarchev was born in Resen (Macedonia) in 1870. He studied in Plovdiv and then went on to study medicine in Zurich and Berlin before graduation in 1892. He returned to Skopje as a physician at the school in 1892-3. He then went on to study gynaecology and surgery in Paris from 1893 to 1895 and then in London from 1895 to 1897.
From 1902 he was a military physician in the Bdinska Division and participated in the Ilinden Uprising about which he contributed reports to The Times and Daily News of London. He then returned to Britain to give public lectures about the Uprising.
He was a Major in the Army during the Balkan and European Wars and then in 1919 drew up part of the French language memoir of the Paris Peace Conference. After the Great War he served as a district doctor in Bitula (Macedonia), The Catholic Hospital and Kjustendil. He died on 26th October 1940.

He was the son of Andrej Dimitrov Tatarchev, An early Bulgaria politician who was involved with the creation of the Bulgarian Church in 1864 (before Bulgarian independence). He even has his own wikipedia page Андрей Татарчев — Уикипедия. His was the 28th signature on the "Memoir Of Bulgarian In Macedonia 27th December 1917".

And he was the son of Dimt'r Tatarchev, a banker that was tortured by the Ottomans during the Bulgarian uprisings against the Ottoman Yoke in 1877.
