Revolutionary Worker Hero Of The People's Democratic Republic Of Ethiopia

Hello everyone,

I picked up a neck ribbon and large medal the other dayin Addis-Ababa Ethiopia and I cannot place it. It has two superimposed 5 pointed stars with a pentagon formed by rays much like those used for police in Europe or German rank pips. In the center there are five individuals representing what looks like buisness, soldier women, scientists and mechanics. Quite socialist in some respects. The color of the neck ribbon is two blue stripes with one red in the middle. The reverse has two identical stamps on the rays which have the numbers 933 boxed and what looks like "IF" or "F". I was told this was a Derg Regime high order but I doubt it due to the color scheme. Could you help me identify this medal? or at least give me a point of contact that I could reach.

Upon further research I think it may be Mongolian, Laotian, North Korean or Cambodian due to the color scheme.

Any information would be greatly appreciated,

Hi Redleg,

It´s absolutely not north korean, I can tell you that. You can notice that all north korean awards have a certain look that is quite similar (except if you compare soviet and czech manufactured awards with local production, but they still have that similar look in desing) that definitely is light years away from the awards you show.

It´s not mongolian neither.

The Neck Order is the Hero of Socialist Ethiopia. It was awarded for achievement in arts, letters, science and others. Full title is:'Revolutionary Worker, Hero of the Socialist Republic of Ethiopia'
