Naval Dembel Badges.

I don't even know if this one's Soviet.
The seller said it's "some kind of soviet naval badge."
Attached with screw.
Any ideas?

It is nothing that is official Soviet Navy issue. Very odd style. I suspect some sort of fantasy or other East European??

Shawn,

Certainly not official, but do you think it could be one of those "Dembel" badges? The design is still very Soviet...

Fuzzy picture but it seems to be too nice to be a dembel badge. It looks like it is a proper stamping job. I was wondering about merchant marine - either unofficial Soviet or somewhere else.

Shawn,

You are probably right... I thought about a "Dembel" badge because of the enamel, which looks like epoxy.

If this is Merchant Marine, shouldn't there be a hammer and sickle on the star?
I too was thinking about dembel, because:
1. It looks similar to the anchor on navy enlisted belt buckle.
2. The "ring" at the top of the anchor looks like damaged (or it never looked any better).
btw. there's no enamel on it - this are just two different metals - It is one piece as a background (anchor w/star) + star attached in front.

"25 Years" Dembel Badge.

Guys,

I'm really not sure if I should post this here or on the "eBay jokes" thread.
But we never know and my knowledge of Badges is very limited, so the fact I never saw this may not mean much...

Any opinions, please?
Has anyone ever seen such a piece?
Could it be hand made with parts from here and there?

Thanks,

Dolf

Dolf I have never seen this badge before. Looks homemade. I'd stay away from this one mate.

It is homemade, but that doesn't make it off limits or intentionally faked. Soviet military culture allowed for a lot of "homemade" items, especially for demobilizing soldiers, unit display boards, etc.

The bottom tank is from collar insignia for armored forces. I can't identify the other pieces and the "25 years" is obviously hand engraved.

No, the badge is not official, but it does have its hand-made charm. If you're not paying a lot for it, it is a good example of soldier art.

Paul,

How much you'd consider "...not a lot", in this case ?

Thanks,

Dolf
