Naval Technican's Shoulderboards

Were corps insignia used also on parade uniforms, like the engineering insignia on the attached image? (photo from a service uniform)

yes, Engineering Admirals had this insignia on their boards....i had a tunic like this, a M1945, for an engineer admiral. They were considered combat admirals ( thus gold insignia) but specialized, and thus the shoulder insignia.

I have a tunic with this insignia on the shoulder boards but the edging is red, not yellow. Could this be some sort of shore battery or naval artillery engineering unit? Not too hot on the old Naval uniforms, was even wondering whether it could be a naval infantry engineering unit????

I love old M1943 and M1945 admirals and naval generals uniforms; so diverse, always suprising me...yes, it sounds like you had Naval General of Engineers, most likely naval coastal fortification engineering.
