Unknown Great Patriotic War veteran, photographed in Israel. Many great awards and badges, including Order of Glory-3; Order of the Badge of Honor; Bravery Medal; Excellent Scout Badge; Belarus Partisan Badge; many others.

Order of the Red Star, Patriotic War, 2nd Class (?), Combat Service Medal, Victory over Germany, and a Capture of Berlin, portrayed in this family (?) group picture, dedicated, "by heart, to Ivan Pavlovich, September 14th, 1947, Vinnytsia (Ukraine)."

January, 1946, an Order of the Patriotic War and two Orders of the Red Star, for them the war is over. . .

This photograph comes from a 1945 pass to the steam engine repair plant, but since the railroad personnel had already shoulderboards then, I assume that the uniform is pre-1943 (he also has a photograph in this uniform in another, not railway-related doc from 1956). What is the rank and is it really pre-1943 uniform?

Going by the 1934-43 Rank system of the NPKS this would be an 8th Category Serviceman. This could mean he was a Machinsit (Engine Driver).
The rank system went 1st-4th Category (1-4 V Devices) 5th-8th Category (1-4 Hexagons) 9th to 12th Category (1-4 Stars)
