Marshal of Soviet Union uniform
The uniform on the attached image is being sold by a US based company, with no visible connections to Ukraine. But there is something with this uniform that feels very wrong, some of the decorations on the left side looks like those cheap badges being sold at eBay for 3 USD, the Hero star looks too "fat" etc. etc.
Can someone bring some light to this? The price for this item is just below 1000 dollars. On the same place are two other very high-rank uniforms being sold. If you want the link, please send a PM. regards, Patrik |

uniforms
They are probably parts uniforms, i.e. hey used unissued parts to put them together; they are not for real Marshals in my opionion. The admiral might be ok, but i bet the source has no real knowledge of soviet uniforms.

Doug and Patrik,
Can only agree with your comments, as you can - moreover - see that uniforms #1 and #3 obviously display the same "fruit salad", and that #2 seems "poor" in terms of high rank awards... Ch. |

Seems the ribbon set on the admirals one is wrong. It starts with Capture of Berlin and goes on with Victory over Japan and the victory anniversaries. Plus, it looks like a ribbon of the BAM railroad construction medal in third row. That one is, as well as Berlin (capital of Germany), if I am not wrong, far up on land "where no ships can sail"... ;)
I did not notice that the ribbon bar was the same for #1 and #3... Maybe this is supposed to indicate they belonged to the same person? /Patrik |

In this case, probably the first sold uniform will get the fruit salad... (first here, first served...) The second one will just have to wait for the seller to 'build' a second same one.
Moreover, and more important : don't buy the two uniforms together !! :p I think, seriously, that it could be a good idea to ask the question to the seller... :D Ch. |

Star on Marshal of Soviet Union uniform
The "fat" star is not a Hero of the Soviet Union. It is a Hero of Socialist labor (H&S inside the circle in middle). They WERE given to active duty military but a Marshal would not wear it on his parade uniform in that position. If he didn't have at least one real HSU, something was seriously wrong with his career.
It is a composite, faux, or notional uniform. I know you all like to call those creations "fakes" and if they are sold as completely authentic, then they are. But there are some very excellent display composites available that use the real uniform and add correct badges, decorations, etc. and are up front about it. The best are done outside the former Soviet Union, oddly enough. Dr. Bob |

I still think the stars look very very odd... Fat..! Chubby!
How about the awards on left side on MSU uniform? Seems they have just been placed there to fill it out. /Patrik |
