Re: Fake Orders of the Patriotic War 1st Class

It's heavily cleaned, but I believe it's a good one.

Re: Fake Orders of the Patriotic War 1st Class

@Auke:

thank you very much - but what do you mean by saying "heavily cleaned" ? With force, leaving damages, scratches, etc. ? What do you think concerning the enamel, etc. May it be assembled from parts of different orders ?

Thanks a lot !!!

Re: Fake Orders of the Patriotic War 1st Class

I just mean that it was forcibly cleaned, removing all patina, except for some in the indentations. I'm not 100 percent sure, but I believe all parts and the enamel to be original.

Re: Fake Orders of the Patriotic War 1st Class

Thank you Auke :thumbsup

I still do not understand, why people are doing this; there is one E*** seller in Germany who always cleans all items he sells - wonderful bravery and combat valor - medals with beautifully worn ribbons come shining bright as if they were freshly coined... I think this is just awful. I also think that a genuine patina belongs to the history of a 60 year old, worn piece...

With best regards !

Re: Fake Orders of the Patriotic War 1st Class

It seems that quite a few people do that. A friend of mine rids all of his new acquisitions of patina. I keep advising him not to, but this is how the awards were worn at the time, he says. Aside from its attractiveness I also see allowing patina to accumulate as a protective measure - it's a protective layer that protects the decoration from getting in contact with oxygen and prevents further damage to the surface of the decoration.

I think because the item was previously posted in this thread asking for opinions, and we can now see unbiased pictures of the item as received.

Shocktrooper, I share the opinion that the order is good, and a very nice one as well. I know the seller as a serious one. Congratulations for the nice catch!
