Aharim,

Great images. This one is the best so far as size. I would go bigger still, but crop all the dead space if you can. There are some beautiful details in there. See attached..

Azerbaijan TsIK - Type 5 (or more)

The all latin badge.

Dimensions: 14 x 27 mm
Badge in silver no marks.

I will try a higher resolution on future badges. I am at 300 on this and it fits the 100k limit with room to spare.

Boring techie geek stuff and a badge finally

I don't want to bore you all with the techie geek stuff but I have this flatbed scanner that works just fine except for screwback badges.

For those I used to take a picture on a board with two light sources and mount for camera and ship the film off for several weeks until the photos returned. With the advent of the information age, I can now take a digital picture. Except they come in a megabits and I have spent the last hour shrinking, shrinking. I know, no dead space but the camera is set for merely big, down from tremendous and it still takes a while,

So here is the reverse of the start of the Azeri TsIK badges.

By the numbers in Mekhonoshin this is badge 31.1.3 or 4 reverse

Those without the book crescent and star in a canton in the upper left, with AI3X around the symbols. version 3 vice 4 is with or without markings. Mekhonoshin shows SB as the marking. This has Kh-M as manufacturer, and 875 (which is bearly legible in the photo)(not enough definition - I wish I did not have to be a techno to be an historian)

To follow shortly will be 31.1.5, Latin characters, concerning which there are two varieties and I have one now and will go back to work on the other.

Reverse of Mekhonoshin 31.1.5 or so

I have two versions of All Latin badge with MIQ and AzSSC, one numbered and one not. This is the numbered badge. I believe it is later than the un-numbered badge. But that means I have to try to get 3 more to fit (and then go back to MOPR).

I have called this 31.1.5 or so because Mekhonoshin makes no mention of numbers. Since one is numbered and one, not, I beleive they date from differing convocations.

Mekhonoshin 31.1.3 or 4 mirror reverse

I have tried to get this to 100 and it might be exactly correct.

Mirror reverse. You can make out the MIK through the silver. Badge is in silver but not marked.

Mekhonoshin 31.1.5 flat reverse

Badge all in Latin MIQ/ AzSSC with flat/plain reverse. No marks.

There is a dark spot which might cover some marking or number, but excluding that fill there is no marking.

Aharim,

Flat bed is no problem for screwbacks..tricky, but not hard. Take a look at the main website, all my scans were done on a flatbed. To do it, place the badge with screwpost on top of glass, GENTLY lay a large piece of cloth over the top. The cloth keeps the badge balanced on the glass. Scan it and rotate it to perfection in photoshop.

Would really like to see your badges scanned front and back, much larger. Minus all the background. Still, great work..thanks for taking the time to provide the great info you are along with the scans.

Looks like I spoke to soon! the scans above are PERFECT!
