Image Posting Rules (new Members Please Read This)

If there is ever any confusion regarding images and the best way to prepare images for uploading onto the forum, please take a minute and look at the new FAQ's I have posted. You may access these FAQ's by clicking the FAQ links located in the navigation bar at the top of the forum window. You'll see it in between the "UserCP" and Members List.

If you have any other suggestions as to what I can put there, please PM.

To all members,

Since the first day this forum opened, the goal has been to keep this online resource as easy to use and error free as possible. Your help is required to keep it this way.

Image posting should be as selective as possible. Please avoid posting images that are of completely unrelated subject matter such as family pets, girlfriends, your automobile, etc..these images take up precious server space and never go away.

Images must be posted here if they are to be included in discussions here. This is so the images always stay on this forum, and that images don't disappear and destroy the message they were meant to help.

Images are limited in file size to 50K per image.

Linking to large images on a free image hosting website such as image-shack, photo-bucket, or outside websites is not allowed and the link will be deleted.

However, if you take the time and post very good thumbnails (if the thumbnails don't accurately show the subject matter, you will be asked to re-do them) of the images you are linking to, you can post the links. This will be done on a trial basis. If people can't take the time to post good thumbnails and we have to keep asking for these to be redone, we will disallow this.

Repeated attempts to circumvent the 50K posting rule by resorting to outside linking WILL RESULT IN THE BANNING of the poster. Sorry, but no longer will explanation be given regarding the 50K policy. Those are the rules. If you really want to post larger images, consider becoming a donating member to the forum. You will receive posting privileges in the forsale groups, and an increased image size allowance.

Please read ALL the articles in this FAQ which detail how you can get the best image quality for 50K.

Members,

Upon careful consideration, and discussion with the moderators and a few of you in private, the following changes to the maximum image upload will take place:

1. Members with more than 150 posts will have their maximum upload increased to 100K (currently the limit is 50K). Those below 150 posts will remain at 50K. All members will be allowed to post a maximum of 3 images per post. You may reply to your own post and add images if you feel that is necessary.

2. Donating members will be allowed 120K, per image and will have their private message box increased to 50 messages (up from the current 25 messages for non-donating members). In looking for other ways to increase forum resources for donating members, the suggestion was made to increase the length of Private Messages. Unfortunately this is a software limitation and cannot be implemented.

Please note that with these increased file sizes, we might experience slowdowns or lagginess in the forum, or even the White Screen of Death. This website resides on a shared webserver, so we are also at the mercy of other sites as well. That's the tradeoff we'll have to live with in exchange for bigger, prettier pictures.

The other rules regarding image posting are still in effect. If you wish to link to anything on a free image hosting website such as image-shack, photo-heap, picture-dump, or equivalent, a suitable thumbnail image must be posted for each link. If a good quality image isn't posted, the link will be deleted. No arguments. No discussions. This image posting policy will be re-evaluated in one year. Depending on funds available, this may be increased or decreased.

Do not link to streaming media (such as movies) which load from another website when one views the message. These slow the load time of the entire message. These will be deleted.

Do not link to live sound files (such as marching music) which load from another website one views the message. These will be deleted.

You can and will be banned for repeated offense of the image posting rules. Read the rules posted in the announcements section.
