Re: Unknown cap
i have examples of both suvorov and flight academy hear at home of both soviet and Russian period ,, they are in most of there design the same. and are exactly the same on color.
so i doubt this is a transitional cap for suvorov. i mean it may be tried out at schools and dropped , but it must have been in use than along side the well known caps of those schools. tell me if i'm wrong or missed a thing. ser-g |

Re: Unknown cap
So!
I checked at under the red star. This gentleman has one of these caps and it is apparently a tropical service cadet cap, but these ones shown have the wrong cords and cockade, unless of course they are an officer/teacher for these cadets in a tropical climate? I am not sure about those regulations but it was considered for adoption just before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Under the Red Star - Air Force Caps |

Re: Unknown cap
I believe that these caps are unissued "tropical cadet" caps where clever persons have added cheap yellow cord and officers badge. To make this a good cap, change the cord to a plastic and switch the badge to EM.

Re: Unknown cap
That's the site I used to ID them too. I won one of the red army cadet's caps (still haven't received it). Since none of them were issued anyway, a simple cockade and chinstrap fix makes a messed-up hat into a rather uncommon one! The fake yellow strap and officer's cockade were probably just put on blank surplus caps to make them look more impressive. Fortunately spare enlisted straps and cockades are easy to come across!

Re: Unknown cap
As it should be. It's a good sense of completion!

Re: Unknown cap
I have quite a few extras...
If you can not find one in Europe (less cost for shipping), I'd be more than happy to send you one. |
