Greetings all,
I've recently seen this badge for sale at a reputable auction site that was disposing of the Soviet collection from a prominent collector.

The badge reads "Special Detachments KGB", and is made in the same style as the distinguished colleague badge.

My basic question is: Is this a fantasy piece, or was there really an award badge made for the Chekists who served in military units (the special detachments).

I've only seen one reference to a similar badge -- in Kutsenko & Rudichenko's book on badges of the law enforcement organs.
