Military Engineering Service Honour Order.

Here is the Military Engineering Service Honour Order (군수공복무영예훈장) which was founded sometime before late 1970 and comes in three "classes" 30 Years, 20 Years and 10 Years. The first type is constructed of plated copper and the second type plated aluminium. The design features a male and female Military Engineer in front of Mount Baekdu in a motif featuring a pair of bayoneted rifles and hand grenades. The term "Military Engineer" has a slightly different meaning in the DPRK. A "Military Engineer" will produce and supply materiel in ways such as arms production or arms factory construction etc..

Here is the Military Engineering Service Honour Order 10 Years Type 1 Variation 2. This differs from the first variation as it does not have gaps in the line on some characters.

Looking at this today this Order impresses me very much with echoes of the original design of the Order Of Korean Labour. I'm sure there is some connection there, replacing overalls for a military uniform.

20 Years Type 1.

It is surprising how different in feel the first and second types of this Order are due only to production changing from copper to aluminium. Both have their charms but ambivalence runs wild.

Here is another Variation of the 20 Years Type 2. Most noticeable on the 복. The colour difference is just a variable of the "ingredients".

Here is another Variation of the Type 1 10. This is noticeably thinner than the other Type 1s.
