Order "8th September".
The Order "September 8"/Орден "8 Септември" is the Repuplic Of Macedonias second highest Order and honours it's independence Day.
It is awarded for: Emergency merits of individuals and state bodies, institutions, governmental and non-governmental organizations and the like, the Republic of Macedonia in the establishment and development of the Republic of Macedonia in peacetime as a sovereign, independent, democratic and social state, as well as for outstanding contribution to the establishment, development and strengthening of friendly relations and peaceful cooperation with other countries and international organizations and associations for promoting and strengthening its international position and reputation. The people and organizations who have contributed especially to the development and promotion of inter-ethnic relations in Macedonia. The people for outstanding merit and works in the fields of security, defense and protection of the Republic of Macedonia, as well as international cooperation in this area. The presidents of states, parliaments and governments, senior foreign statesmen and diplomats, top officials of international organizations and institutions for outstanding merit in establishing, developing and strengthening friendly relations and peaceful cooperation among appropriate equitable state, organization or institution and the Republic of Macedonia, as well as for outstanding contribution to the strengthening of its international position and reputation. The award is made of gilded silver and the reverse is numbered, hallmarked and has a purity stamp. Recipients: Robert Badinter - French Senator (2006) Christopher Hill - the first ambassador of USA in Macedonia (2007) Roman Herzog - President of Germany (2009) Zheliu Zhelev - President of Bulgaria (2010) Uffe Ellmann Jansen - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (2010) John Bitove - Canadian businessman for contribution to Canadian-Macedonian relations (2011) Nicholas Kljusev - first Prime Minister of Macedonia (2011, posthumous) Jordan Mijalkov - first Interior Minister of Macedonia (2011, posthumous) Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani - Emir of Qatar (2011) Bronislaw Komorowski - President of Poland (2013) Viktor Orban - the Hungarian Prime Minister (2013)

Order “8 September” awarded to Jordan Mijalkov posthumously. The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Ivanov today posthumously awarded Jordan Mijalkov with the Order ”8 of September”, for outstanding contributions to the achievement of independence, autonomy, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Macedonia and strengthening its international position and reputation in the first duty of acting interior minister of the Government of Macedonia. The Order was received by his son Vlatko Mijalkov.

Uffe Ellemann-Jensen
On 12th February 2010, Uffe Ellemann-Jensen received the highest accolade of the Republic of Macedonia, the 8th of September Order for his contribution to the strengthening of Danish-Macedonian relations and for promotion of Macedonia in its initial years of independence in the early 1990's.
