DOSAAF badges - and a little help please

It seems everything I've purchased in the past few weeks arrived at the same time. If you're checking "New Posts" you'll see I've made quite a few today.

Anyway, here are some of the DOSAAF badges I've picked up along with a document that is part of a whole set of documents on Vladimir Bugaichik?
If anyone can make out the name from the script, please correct me. I'll include another document (pass) with the name to see if it is any easier to make it out. I think he may be Kirghiz (at least that's where he came from in one of the passes I have for him. He was apparently an MVD officer and this DOCAAF document was for special training?

Thanks,
Phillip

First, the DOSAAF document (with the pass for name recognition):

And the last one. This one is late (70s or 80s) I'm guessing because of the pin back. But the pin back and the lack of any mint markings makes me wonder it this is even authentic.

The documents were given to Petr Buglak in Kyrgyzstan. The left document was for achieving a Class I driver license and the right permitted him to live one year at a different location from where he was registered. There is nothing to indicate he was an MVD officer.

Re: ДОСААФ badges - and a little help please

Hello again. I only put that one document to help with the name ID. I have a mess of other documents and IDs for him (and I think his wife, too - but I may be confusing his with another set). I may have his MVD driver's permit.

But what, may I ask, does DOSAAF have to do with driving permits? Did they simply offer a course? I thought it was a sport and "ready for defense" almost paramilitary organization. But then again, my posts from today are full of "what I thoughts"

Re: ДОСААФ badges - and a little help please

Looking through a box of badges & pins, I found this Dosaaf badge.
Its measures 4 inches top to bottom. Where would you wear such a
large badge, its a screw back also. Compare it to the 2 "normal:
Dosaaf badges along side it.

Re: ДОСААФ badges - and a little help please

From what I recall (as opposed to a good source;)), this was the first version of this badge before the much smaller (about the size of the others in the photo) was made. It would have been worn like any other badge of this type - on the right (non-heart side) breast of a non-military uniform. For a while these were all over ePay, but I never got around to picking one up. Nice badge Larry.:thumbsup

I too can't point to anything authoritative, but I seem to remember reading or hearing somewhere that these oversized badges would not have been personally worn, but awarded to an organization and pinned to a banner or hung on a wall, for example.

Phillip,

The DOSAAF organisation was providing a lot of different types of training and activities to the Soviet youth. Here is a link to the Russian wikipedia, the English version being hopelessy useless.

And here is the site of the modern day Russian DOSAAF.
