As for the Admirals pants, they did have the gold wide general officer stripes for the M1945 uniform, but that seems to be the last uniform to use them as they were not on the post M1945 uniforms (at least gone by the mid 1950's); I also have not seen them for the M1940 and M1943 parade admirals uniforms which leads me to think they were just for the M1945 uniform?... I am sorry I do not have all the regulations for it, just what I have noticed. Also, there did not seem to be any difference between Admirals stripes and those for Admiral of the Fleet of the USSR. The material ( I have only been able to examine three sets of these pants) is not the soft wool of the red generals stripes, but more like gold lace.. As for collectors, the pants are quite a bit rarer than the tunics!

Oh so, there the earlier type braid, not the German style adopted later. Well, its kinda hard to day a fabric a metallic color, which is i guess why its like gold lace.

If you are talking about this type than it was introduced by the same order in 1945 for generals of the Navy and in use even today.

And by the way Stalin never said that about POW.

info.

Willie,

see, even your signature gets corrected...sort of made my point for me : )

as for my term of gold 'lace', yes, you are probably correct about the difficulties of 'mettalic' cloth and so they used the lace material.

Yes I know, but I was wondering whether the GOLD lace for Fleet admiral was in the same pattern as this type. Wow, you win a war, then you can copy that nation's uniforms. Then why does the US military still look like crap? Sorry, that was supposed to be an inner monolouge thing.

And even though stalin didnt exactly say that verbally, it was in Приказ СВГК СССР № 270 Order No. 270 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don’t understand what phrase from soviet movie, where it’s shown as Nazi propaganda invention has to do with order 270.

History is often a mixture of facts and embellishments. Only Stalin knows what exactly he said on that day :)

And, as I keep repeating to my graduate and post-graduate students, let's not forget that Wikipedia is NOT NECESSARILY a reliable source, especially since anyone can add or take away things as they wish.
In other terms, a simple "I read it on the internet" is usually not a valid source.

Art, on what day?

I thought Willie777 didn’t know it, but if person willingly choose fictional phrase invented by Nazi propaganda and put it as a real quote to a real person and not even once, but as his signature for every posting I see no point to discuss it any further.

I was speaking figuratively in regards to Stalins comments. It's a pointless discussion, no one knows/will know exactly what he said. Thus, we should get back to the content of the thread which is Admiral Kuznetsov's M43 Tunic.

Maybe the Admiral said that to Stalin when asking him about wearing the Marshall's star on his shoulder boards. Stalin like the quote so much that he gave permission to wear the star if he could claim the quote as his own. BTW, did anyone catch the latest episode of "Ugly Betty"? Yeah, me neither!
